Good Shepherd Services, Czech Republic

The association Good Shepherd Services was founded in February 1997 as a private association of Christians, under the auspices of the Roman Catholic diocese of Ostrava-Opava. In October 1997 the association founded Dům sv. Eufrasie (St. Euphrasia Home) which provides social services for mothers and children.

The association is managed by the international Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd (known as Sisters of the Good Shepherd) - province of Austria-Switzerland-Czech Republic. There are approximately 4,000 Sisters of the Good Shepherd in more than 70 countries worldwide. The first community in the Czech Republic was founded in 1992.

The Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd is an NGO in special consultative status with ECOSOC, United Nations.

The Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd was founded by St. Mary Euphrasia in 1835 and our organisation is guided by her motto:

"One person is of more value than a whole world."
